JUNE MUSIC BLITZ NOT TO BE MISSED!

June begins with Dr. Joel & Rude Notes Galore on Saturday, the 6th, 6-10 p.m. This band brings its own New Orleans style of rock ‘n roll, piano-based blues and gumbo ya-ya. Roadhouse audiences will love this combination of rock and zydeco. Brother Cat returns on Saturday, June 13 with its array of rock, cool swing blues, gumbo and shuffle.
When the pool and the outdoor temperatures heat up in June, so will the bands. Elvis hasn't left the building! All Ways Elvis will croon and move to your favorite Elvis numbers on Friday, June 19; don't miss this guy! Returning to the Roadhouse on June 20 are the Unauthorized Rolling Stones. They rock and so will you. “Mick Jagger” and “Keith Richards” will knock your socks off; they resemble the real thing! No kidding.
Not to be outdone, another tribute band, the Sun Kings will play the Roadhouse again on Friday, June 26. Last year, audiences were thrilled to hear their favorite Beatles music performed brilliantly by the Sun Kings. One could determine the age of audience members by how well they knew the lyrics. Though several band members only vaguely resemble the original Fab Four, they capture the essence and harmonies of Beatles music. Close your eyes, and you’ll think the originals are right there onstage. Don't miss these guys on the 26th!
The night after, the Fargo Brothers will close out June with their popular original tunes and the music of other great artists you know and appreciate. Known for Americana rock ‘n roll and blues, the Fargo Brothers have been playing their stylish music up and down the Russian River for more than a decade.
The Fourth of July weekend kicks off with Tudo Bem on Friday, the 3rd, 7-10 p.m. They ask: what do you get when you cross a Texas guitar with a Motown drummer and a S. Calif. bass? Tudo Bem! And that means "everything is fine"! They've played all over N. Calif. for more than a decade and are known for their reggae, rock, R&B, Latin, country, jazz, and blues! What more could we ask for? Saturday, July 4 is kind of an all-day event, with music beginning at 4 until about 10 p.m. The Sharps will play all your very favorite numbers beginning with the 50's! It'll be a fun day with swimming and BBQ too. (These guys are good--they ALL went to high school in the 50's, and what a scene that was!)
Everyone's favorite, The THUGZ, will play on Friday, July 10, and you know what a listening, dancing, and singing treat that is. One more “tribute” band is in the line-up for July: Rusty Evans and Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash look-and sound-alike) on Saturday, July 11. Watching him perform your Cash favorites is almost an eerie experience and one you will truly enjoy.
Brother Cat will warm up the next weekend on Friday, July 17, 7-10 p.m. with their cool swing blues, jump, rock, and soulful swing.
Following them will be the classic rock group The Poyntlyss Sistars, strutting their stuff on stage Saturday, July 18. They bring a blend of musicianship and glamour to their lively dance sets. You’ll hear favorite hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Bring your dancing shoes to this event. D'Giin will wind up the weekend on Sunday, 6-9 p.m.
In case you missed them in June, the Sun Kings (“Beatles”) will return on Saturday, August 1. Closing out the month are The Pulsators, one of the best five-man rock ‘n roll party bands around. If you missed them in May, here they are again! The Roadhouse will rock!!
The next weekend, begins Friday night, July 24 with Doc Cummings, 7-10 p.m., followed by Jimbo Trout and the Fish People on Saturday, 6-10 p.m. And the last Friday of the month, July 31, RNR welcomes Road Hogg & the Rippers! The name alone makes you want to check 'em out, huh? They're all about classic rock and blues.
And to help celebrate Labor Day and the end of summer, The Unauthorized Rolling Stones will be back on stage on Saturday, September 5. Die-hards of the by-gone era might still reminisce about those good ‘ol days, but those who have attended these live music events have enthusiastically rocked and rolled and danced side by side with the younger generations.
Most of the bands perform from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., with the door generally at $5, and several at $10, $12 or $15. There’s no place else around, other than the RIO NIDO ROADHOUSE, where you can go (inexpensively) to a great live concert, eat great food, park for free, and dance til you drop. Perhaps the era of the (smaller) big bands is back!
The RIO NIDO ROADHOUSE is located at 14540 Canyon Two, right off River Road in Rio Nido, two miles east of Guerneville, 20 miles west of Santa Rosa. Call 707-869-0821 for info or www.rionidoroadhouse.com.
Saturday, September 5, Labor Day Weekend
The Rio Nido Roadhouse sits in a sun-filled clearing in the middle of a redwood grove just across the road from the Russian River. The bar itself is fashioned from a single downed redwood. In addition to any drink you can think of from its full bar, it offers a wide range of draft and bottled beer, hand-picked by owner Brad, himself a beer aficionado.
The 60' x 30' swimming pool ( plus kiddie pool) opens officially on Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day weekend. However, warm weather often extends pool use by a weekend or two on either end of those dates. A lifeguard is on duty during pool hours, 11:30-5:30 daily.
The immediate roadhouse property is a good-sized acre and also includes basketball and volleyball hardtop court, horseshoe pits, two large barbecue pits for parties and events, a dozen 8 to 10-person picnic tables, and dozens of adirondack chairs and umbrellas.
